Shyam Sundar (or Radha Shyam Sundar) Temple is a famous Hindu temple in Vrindavan. The deity here is a self-manifested idol of Srimati Radharani. It was found among the jewels of the King of Bharatpur. It is one of the major pilgrimage destinations for the Vaishnava sect.

It is in the same place where Radha and Sri Krishna spent most of their childhood. They played with their friends and performed various spiritual acts – Leela.

Things to do at Shyam Sundar Temple Vrindavan

Sri Sri Radha Shyam Sundar Temple is one of the holiest temples in the region. And it is revered by all Vaishnavas.

The place is popular because of the devotion of Sri Shyamananda prabhu to Sri Krishna and Radha. He is said to be graced by Srimati Radharani, who gave him a small idol of Shyam Sundar manifested from her heart. This idol is worshipped as Lala ji in the temple. The small Radharani idol (Lali ji) was brought by the King of Bharatpur, who found it in his treasury.

The temple also has the idols of Sri Radha-Kunjbihari. They were found in Nandgram by Sri Brajajanand Dev Goswami. After his demise, those were brought to Vrindavan and established in this temple.

In the centre, you'll find the bigger idols of Srimati Radharani and Sri Shyam Sundar. These were carved out and installed by Baladeva Vidyabhusana.

Radha Shyam Sundar Temple Vrindavan also has a large open area with a marble stage. Here, you can watch various events organised by the temple.

You can also be a part of the festivals celebrated by the temple. The Basant Panchami is the most important of all. It is the day when Srimati Radharani was married to Sri Shyam Sundar. Holi, Jhulan Yatra and Radhashtami are other popular festivals celebrated here.
